The India ranking framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.
The parameters involved broadly cover- 1.Teaching, Learning, and Resources, 2.Research and Professional Practices, 3.Graduation Outcomes, 4.Outreach and Inclusivity, and 5.Perception. The ranking framework is essential for all institutes across the country. The highest ranking for any institute will open the doors to benefits and impact for an HEI. Meanwhile, the methodology used by the ranking agencies warrants an exhaustive and lengthy process in handling and presenting the data. An institution may need to hire a full-time resource to accomplish this process and track changes made in the method. The method of India ranking involves around 16-18 parameters in five major groups in its data capture system. The whole process could be a challenge for the HEI to handle.

Higher educational institutions are interested in knowing how their data inputs to national ranking agencies will reflect in the final score. The challenge is that the agencies do not divulge the formulas, except that it is a comparative evaluation and not absolute scoring. This challenge can be solved using proper statistical methods. The solution is to provide a Heuristic Model from which, colleges can estimate their ranking score.
